President Donald Trump said the United States will eventually recover and likely destroy Iran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium, making clear that any future peace agreement cannot allow Tehran to keep nuclear fuel that could be used for weapons.
Speaking with reporters, Trump addressed concerns over Iran’s estimated 900-pound supply of highly enriched uranium and said the issue remains central to ongoing negotiations and military pressure.
The president said the United States is determined to make sure Iran does not retain material that could allow the regime to quickly restart or expand its nuclear weapons program.
“We will probably destroy it,” Trump said while discussing the uranium stockpile.

Trump argued that Iran cannot be trusted to keep enriched uranium under any deal and said his administration will not accept an agreement that leaves Tehran with a path toward nuclear weapons.
The comments come as tensions remain high between Washington and Tehran following recent U.S. and Israeli military operations targeting Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.
Trump has repeatedly said Iran must never be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon and has defended his administration’s aggressive approach as necessary for regional and global security.
Supporters of the president say destroying Iran’s enriched uranium would be a major step toward preventing the regime from rebuilding its nuclear program.
Critics may warn that any operation to seize or destroy nuclear material could increase the risk of further escalation if Iran refuses to cooperate or if negotiations collapse.
The uranium issue is expected to remain one of the most difficult parts of any potential peace deal.
Iran has long claimed its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes, but U.S. officials and allies have accused Tehran of moving dangerously close to weapons capability.
Trump’s latest remarks signal that the White House is not only focused on stopping future enrichment, but also on eliminating existing stockpiles already produced by Iran.
For now, the administration appears to be keeping both diplomatic and military options available as talks continue.
Reporter: “Can they keep their highly enriched uranium?”
🇺🇸 President Trump: “No. We will get it. We don’t need it. We don’t want it. We’ll probably destroy it after we get it — but we’re not going to let them have it.” https://t.co/k7cMHLeGxF pic.twitter.com/fe5yijj2hD
