Police in Maryland are investigating after six people, including two children, were wounded in an early morning shooting in Hanover, a suburban community located between Baltimore and Washington, D.C.
The Anne Arundel County Police Department said officers responded around 4:40 a.m. Saturday to the 1300 block of Charwood Road after receiving a report of an unknown disturbance. When officers arrived, they found a large crowd dispersing and located an adult man suffering from a gunshot wound to his torso.
Emergency medical personnel took the man to a hospital. Police said his injuries were not considered life-threatening.
As the morning continued, investigators learned that the shooting involved more victims than initially known. Three area hospitals later contacted detectives to report that five additional people had arrived seeking treatment for gunshot wounds.

Police said the additional victims included an adult woman with a wound to an extremity, two juvenile boys with lower-extremity injuries, and an adult man and woman with lower-extremity injuries. Authorities said all six victims were being treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.
Detectives are now interviewing victims and witnesses to determine what happened before the shooting. Police have not yet released information about a suspect, motive or whether any arrests have been made.
The department said the investigation remains active and that more details will be released once investigators have a clearer picture of the incident.
