A Minnesota man accused in a healthcare fraud case was arrested after allegedly fleeing from law enforcement during an FBI operation, officials said.
FBI Director Kash Patel said Muhammad Abdulqadir Omar was taken into custody after authorities announced a series of public healthcare fraud indictments in Minnesota.
According to Patel, Omar fled when the FBI executed a raid and was later arrested within two hours. FBI Co-Deputy Director Christopher Raia said during a news conference that one suspect escaped by jumping from a fourth-story balcony.
Omar is accused of being involved in a healthcare fraud scheme connected to a Housing Stabilization Services company. Prosecutors allege the scheme involved billing for services that were not provided and using the proceeds for personal benefit.

The Justice Department said Omar, 32, of Roseville, Minnesota, and Ibrahim Bashir Abdi, 25, of Minneapolis, were charged with one count of conspiracy to commit healthcare fraud and four counts of healthcare fraud.
Authorities allege the two men submitted about $3.3 million in fraudulent claims to Minnesota Medicaid’s Housing Stabilization Services program, with approximately $3.2 million being paid out.
According to prosecutors, Omar and Abdi co-owned and operated North Home Health Care LLC, while Omar also individually owned South Home Health Care LLC. Investigators allege the companies submitted claims for services that were never provided or for more services than were actually delivered.
Prosecutors also claim the men created false records to justify the claims submitted to insurers.
The arrest came shortly after federal officials announced a broader crackdown on healthcare fraud in Minnesota, involving multiple indictments.
