Eric Trump shares what his father told him following New York felony conviction verdict

Eric Trump said his father told him “somehow we’re going to win this all” as they were leaving the courthouse.

Eric Trump reflected on a private conversation with President Donald Trump following his 34-count felony conviction in New York, describing it as one of the darkest moments for their family while also recalling the sense of determination his father showed afterward.

Speaking on the latest episode of the Hang Out with Sean Hannity podcast, Eric Trump said the conversation happened shortly after they left the courthouse together.

President Donald Trump and Eric Trump attended the opening of the Trump International Golf Links at the Menie Estate in Balmedie, Aberdeenshire, on July 29, 2025.

“We were driving away after the verdict had just come down,” Trump explained. “My father looked over at me and said, ‘Honey, I don’t know how, but somehow we’re going to win, and somehow we’re going to overcome all of this.

Eric said his father was not only referring to the legal case itself but also to the broader political battle ahead, including the effort to return to the White House.

“He wasn’t just talking about the courtroom situation,” Eric continued. “He was also talking about winning back the presidency and winning the election overall.”

Attorney Todd Blanche, President Donald Trump and attorney Emil Bove appeared in Manhattan criminal court in New York on May 29, 2024.

Eric Trump and his wife, Fox News host Lara Trump, appeared together during Thursday’s podcast episode, where they discussed the 2024 case connected to alleged hush money payments involving Stormy Daniels.

President Trump previously pleaded not guilty to 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in the first degree as part of a long-running investigation led by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.

After a historic six-week trial held in New York City, the jury ultimately found Trump guilty on all counts.

Despite the conviction, Trump continued campaigning for another presidential term following four years under the Biden administration.

Eric Trump said what stood out most to him was his father’s optimism during such a difficult moment.

“He managed to stay incredibly positive during one of the lowest points imaginable,” Eric told Hannity. “That’s something I’ll never forget for the rest of my life.”
