Trump Declared Fully Fit After Annual Physical Shows Excellent Health

President Donald Trump remains in excellent health and is fully fit to carry out the duties of the presidency, according to a memo released after his annual physical.

Trump underwent the examination at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center earlier this week.

The report was written by Navy Capt. Sean P. Barbabella, the president’s physician.

Barbabella said Trump demonstrated strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological and overall physical function.

He also said the president’s cognitive and physical performance were excellent.

According to the memo, Trump is fully fit to serve as commander-in-chief and head of state.

The physical included diagnostic testing, lab work and consultations with 22 specialty providers.

Trump, who turns 80 in June, is listed as 75 inches tall and 238 pounds.

The report said his resting heart rate was 73 beats per minute, his blood pressure was 105/71 and his oxygen saturation was 98% on room air.

The examination did not identify any major health concerns.

Trump also underwent a neurological exam that showed normal mental status.

According to the report, he scored 30 out of 30 on a cognitive screening test.

The physician noted scarring on Trump’s right ear from the gunshot wound he suffered during the 2024 assassination attempt.

The report also mentioned mild swelling in the lower legs, which Barbabella said had improved from the previous year.

Bruising on Trump’s hand was described as consistent with minor soft tissue irritation from frequent handshaking while taking aspirin for cardiovascular prevention.

The memo also highlighted Trump’s lifelong abstinence from tobacco and alcohol.

Trump currently takes Rosuvastatin and Ezetimibe for cholesterol management, along with aspirin for cardiovascular prevention.

The report is likely to draw attention as Trump continues serving at an advanced age, with questions about presidential health remaining a major political topic after the 2024 election cycle.

Why It Matters

Presidential health remains a major public concern, especially with Trump nearing 80. The physical gives the White House a formal medical assessment to point to as it argues that Trump remains physically and cognitively fit for office.

What Comes Next

The White House is likely to use the report to push back against age-related criticism. Trump’s health may continue to be closely watched as he carries out a demanding public schedule and approaches his 80th birthday.

The White House released Trump’s annual physical report, with his physician saying the president remains in excellent health and fully fit for duty.
